Colorado Scene Spotlight: March 2024

This month’s featured artists include: Relate., Years Down, Tireshoe, and even more!

The purpose of this series is to spotlight some bands and artists that are currently on top of their game in the Colorado music scene, whether by releasing new music, playing consistent shows, or just overall being great people to know and listen to! There's so much talent to go around and not enough recognition, so this is just one way to shed some light on the incredibly talented acts that grace the stages throughout the Rocky Mountain region. There is also a Spotify Playlist every month with the featured bands and artists to accompany these lists, so that you can give them a listen for yourself! Without further ado, let's see who the featured artists of the month are for March 2024!

Relate.

Relate.

For fans of: The Story So Far, Movements, Saosin

What started off as a solo acoustic act for frontman Duncan Slack, Relate. (period included) has continued to push themselves farther with each new release and have proved themselves to be one of the top names on the scene to know right now. Between driving guitar riffs and explosive drum parts, Relate. catches listeners with their powerful melodies and even more impactful lyrical content. They manage to do a proficient job at connecting with their listeners on a deeper level and they have a profound way of making a statement with their music that not many other bands can do. In an era where it seems like so much of the music out there these days is just overproduced and non-personal, Relate. does a good job at avoiding both of these characteristics by putting out real songs that audiences can connect with.

You can see Relate. on March 23rd at Lost Lake for the final stop of their Spring 2024 tour, along with Calmgrove, Troubled Minds, Post/War, and Pie Lombardi.

Years Down

For fans of: A Day To Remember, Taking Back Sunday, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!

Bringing back the genre of “easycore”, Years Down gives you the nostalgia of mid-2000s Warped Tour-era bands with a refreshing modernness to their sound that distinguishes them from others on the scene. They manage to keep the sound fresh whilst also giving you something that’s easily accessible to get down in the pit with and blow out your voice to. Similar to bands such as A Day To Remember, Years Down has songs ranging from beatdown metalcore songs all the way to summer skating pop punk anthems.

They’ll be playing a sold out show at the Marquis Theater on April 20th opening up for Driveways, but fear not, you can see Years Down before then on March 23rd at the Trailside Saloon in Thornton!

Tireshoe

Tireshoe after their packed EP release show at the Oriental Theatre in Denver, CO

For fans of: Ruby Waters, Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys

Tireshoe brings beautiful vocal melodies and jazzy instrumentation together to form a unique, well-crafted sound that can only be described as “mesmerizing”. After playing a packed show at the Oriental Theatre in Denver to celebrate the release of their brand new EP, Leave Your Shoes At The Door, Tireshoe is looking up to have an outstanding 2024. Their catchiness can be partially attributed to the diverse backgrounds of each of its members and with these distinctive tastes in music, they can come together and create something unique in its own right.

Hollow Head

Hollow Head

For fans of: Radiohead, Soundgarden, Slowdive

Fusing Indie Rock with acoustic and alternative sounds, Hollow Head brings back some of the sounds that we know and love from the 90s with their own modern take. Not only do they have songs to move your body to, but they also have material to get you in your own feelings with. They have such a diversified portfolio of music that it’s honestly hard to classify just “what” Hollow Head are, but that’s also the beauty in their music - in that, there is a little bit of something for everyone.
