The entrancing guitar-riffs of this whole EP are sure to scratch the brains of any math rock fans right from the beginning of “Answering Machine”. Push Pass knows exactly how to write a catchy melody, and they show it track after track. “The Mountains are Calling” will have you bobbing your head within the first ten seconds, before opening into a whirlwind of dancing instrumentation. The explosive chorus in this track took my by surprise in the best way, and just further proves the point I made earlier. I can’t forget to mention the beautiful vocal harmonies scattered all throughout these songs. The third track, “Bittersweet”, feels pulled right out of your memories of the early 2010’s. The guitar work at the 46-second mark is instantly reminiscent of bands such as the 1975, but doesn’t feel stale by any means. As soon as it hits your ears you brain starts preparing your muscles to dance. Push Pass ends the EP with the final track and lead single, “Pitter Patter”, an infectious track layered with lush vocals. At just 16 minutes and 47 seconds, Puss Pass encapsulates everything we love about indie-rock and brings a refreshing revitalization to the genre.
