It’s been a year since Relate. last released music, with their 2024 release “Sludge” snagging a spot on my top songs of the year (which we reviewed here). For listeners who are new to Relate., I encourage you to picture The Story So Far and Saosin having an exceptionally gifted child especially because each and every member of this band are some of the highest caliber musicians you will find anywhere in the genre. Don’t just take my word for it though! Take a listen to Relate.’s newest drop “Constant Pressure” and you’ll immediately understand what all the hype is about.

As a drummer, I’m pulled in right off the bat by Diego’s intricate drum intro and from then on it’s just one “oh shit!” moment at a time as each member of the band jumps in (WARNING: This song may cause stank faces and head banging). Duncan’s voice conveys so much emotion that you can’t help but feel it deep within your soul, which is only further complimented by the guitar work from the trio of Emilio, Zach, and Tom. The layers of this song carry the signature sound that Relate. has become known for, with soaring vocal melodies and intricate guitar lines that hits listeners right in the feels, but with a new level of refinement that gets me excited for future releases.

“Constant Pressure” is not just musically solid, however. As is expected of Relate., “Constant Pressure” also packs a hefty lyrical punch that strikes listeners where it matters most—straight to the heart—and it is definitely one that will get caught in your head. The hook and chorus are reminiscent of previous hit “Pink Prince Daddy Tee” in that both are wildly catchy and singable.

Overall, this single is excellent and you can really tell that they are putting their true selves out there for the world to see and hear. It is no wonder that Relate. only continues to get bigger and better year after year, and with a single like this I am eager to hear even more from them and hopefully the wait is not as long this time around!
