Troubled Minds Are The Emo Powerhouse We Need In Our Lives

Some critics might say emo music and the glory days of pop punk are long past…but not if Troubled Minds has anything to say about it. This Arizona based post-emo band is pioneering a whole new generation of angsty anthems to lose your voice to. Reminiscent of the genre legends such as Title Fight, Brand New, and Tigers Jaw, Troubled Minds is a worthy addition to the emo canon that upholds tradition while also adding its own modern, grungier twists. This band has been captivating audiences since forming in 2013 and their fusion of decades and styles can be heard on the newest single “Full Circle”. The track begins with some classic Midwest Emo guitar riffing that gets us hooked in before Matt Aldawood’s voice sweeps in to take the lead. The energy builds and Matt continues to belt as the rest of the band keeps the song driving. The breakdown around the 1:45 mark of the song further adds to the aggressive nature of the song and is something featured frequently within the genre, but Troubled Minds still manages to add their own unique twist to it to keep the track fresh and engaging from start to finish. It’s hard to fathom that this song is only two and a half minutes because I keep finding myself wanting more by the end of it and barely even notice that I’ve been repeating the song. “Full Circle” is a perfect emo anthem that proves that the genre is going nowhere and still has a lot to say. Hats off to Troubled Minds and cheers to the emo renaissance!
If you’re ready for more, Troubled Minds will be making their way to Denver on April 18th at Globe Hall with Relate., The Losers Club, Runoff, and Thurston. You can get tickets to this show now at the following link: TICKETS
