2024 has seen its fair share of catchy, memorable songs from many talented acts across the Rocky Mountain region, and The Crooked Rugs’ new single “Melancholy Mind” is no exception.

As one of Colorado’s premier psychedelic rock groups, The Crooked Rugs’ blends the easygoing, “Cali” vibes of 60s and 70s psych and surf rock groups, while also putting a modern twist on the genre. Their new single takes you on a trip to remember and leaves a lasting impression on listeners with fuzzy guitar riffs, a catchy vocal hook, and a memorable, singalong chorus. You would think this song was released more than 30 years ago if it weren’t for the exceptional production quality on the track, which gives it a nice modern edge and allows each instrument to shine respectively. Upon first listen of this song I was instantly hooked and it has since been on repeat, with me very much looking forward to hearing their next single, “Chasin’ the Wind” - which releases on October 22nd, followed by their full length album on November 8th. With the end of the year nearing, The Crooked Rugs has added possibly one of, if not the most memorable song to the soundtrack of 2024.

You can stream “Melancholy Mind” down below, and you can also see The Crooked Rugs live for their album release show at HQ Denver on November 14th, along with Honey Blazer and Tarantula Bill.
